Joel Paradiang Hayag

Joel HayagI was born in the remote area, mountainous part of Cebu Province, Philippines. I grew up with my family as a farmer. We lived in a silent valley having no road and electricity, hearing the different voices of the cattle in the morning, singing birds at noon and the whistling breeze during afternoon that would echo in the mountain ranges.

With the hard worked and determination of my family that Education is the only way to help us out and break the silence of the valley, they were able to send me to public schools for my primary and secondary education in the nearer barangay.

The school was about six (6) kilometers away from home and the only means of transportation was only a pair of slipper. It was about an hour to walk from home, every morning and afternoon, rain or shine along the wide piercing rocky-river.

A prayer, faith and determination, family support, dedication and motivation towards my goal, I was able to stick with it and was able to finish my Primary and Secondary level of education with a scholastic performance.

But because of financial crisis, I was not having a good chance of pursuing my college studies till such time I received the good news of the scholarship program that I recently took before graduation.

It was in the morning during breakfast, when I received a letter that I was able to pass the scholarship program of the Department of Science & Technology (DOST) and was called for orientation. My family and I have felt the overwhelming feeling of happiness with the tears of joy that brought new hope. And this good news had changed my life and built a solid foundation for achieving my dreams.

I pursued my college studies as a Technician on a three (3) year Information Technology course from a reputable Non-Profit Technical Institution. I graduated last 2004.

With the continuous growth and blessings in life, I got hired immediately as a Technical Support Staff of an International company well known for its printing ideas, to where I was assigned for an on-the-job-training program. I have been working with them for about 3 years but since my job wasn’t promising that way at all, I started to move forward to find other opportunities in life that would probably draw me nearer towards my dreams. I quitted my job to find another job.

But one day, my plans had changed when one of my college classmates approached me to join their group. I mumbled but curious about the things he said. So I started to listen eagerly. And it turned out that I was being convinced on their concept to build an organization called “JOBLESS SOCIETY”. I willingly joined the group and now actively involving on their activities as one of the pioneer.

Jobless Society is already a registered organization. And my expectation for the coming years would be: people will be joining for the benefits and goodness it may bring. And it will become more popular like wild fire to everyone in the society because, we at “Jobless Society”, truly cares and shares.
